TGL Charity Foundation
The TGL Charity Foundation, launched on TGL Gem Lab’s 5th anniversary, supports Sri Lanka’s gem-mining communities through sustainable development, training, and ethical trade. Its first project donated gem-cutting equipment to empower youth and artisans. Long-term goals include skill development, fair sourcing, and educational outreach across regions like Ratnapura and Galle.
Mission & Vision
Launched on TGL Gem Lab’s 5th anniversary, the TGL Charity Foundation is dedicated to uplifting local gem-mining communities. The foundation focuses on sustainable development, capacity building, and ethical growth within Sri Lanka’s gem sector.
Initial Project: Equipment Donation
To empower low-income families and community micro-entrepreneurs in gem-rich regions like Ratnapura and Galle, TGL donated gem-cutting machines to local youth groups and artisan cooperatives. This supportive gesture was part of the foundation’s inaugural phase.
Long-Term Programs
- Training Workshops: Offering hands-on instruction in gem-cutting, polishing, grading, and valuation—led by TGL’s expert gemologists.
- Educational Resources: Providing access to TGL’s Gemological Magazine, laboratory tools, and digital verification technologies.
- Community Outreach: Establishing mobile lab services and gem-verification camps in rural areas to support fair trade and authenticity.
- Partnership Development: Collaborating with local schools, cooperatives, and NGOs to create sustainable community-led projects.
